What exactly is the Bible? Many people see the Bible as a collection of religious writings, an

assortment of random moral stories like Aesop’s Fables that tells us how to behave, a theological dictionary with really big words that answers our questions about God, or a hodge-podge of inspirational one-liners commonly seen at Hobby-Lobby. But, none of these views even come close to describing what the Bible actually is!

The Bible is the story God is telling about the world He created, the people He deeply loves, how He lost His people, His plan to restore the world through Jesus, and bring His sons and daughters back home, close to His heart where they belong. The Bible is an epic narrative that points to Jesus!

The primary theme of the Bible is God redeeming a people through Jesus for the display of His glory.

Even though the primary storyline of the Bible is Redemption, God has woven many other themes into the storyline that run from Genesis to Revelation. All of these individual themes are Biblical Threads that are woven into the fabric of God’s Story of Redemption. The Bible is God’s literary genius where He takes diverse Biblical Threads and creates one awe-inspiring masterpiece—a tapestry that reveals His glory!

Seeing the Bible as God’s Interwoven Masterpiece will impact how you think, it will change your desires, and will transform your life. Why? Because seeing the Bible as one unified story will lead you straight to Jesus. Join us on the journey of seeing God’s “Big Picture” of the Bible and find your place in His Story.

Matthew Levant
May 31st, 2020

Luke 24:25-27, 44-49
Jesus told us that the whole Old Testament points to Him and is fulfilled in Him. God’s Story can be summarized with Four Words: Creation (Genesis 1-2), Fall (Genesis 3), Redemption (Genesis 3 - Revelation 20), Consummation (Revelation 21-22). Introduce the series by showing how the Bible fits together and points to Redemption in Jesus through multiple Biblical Threads. The prayer: that God’s Spirit awakens awe for Jesus, a deeper love for God’s Word, and recognizing our place in God’s Story.
